VMRC heads to The Bend

South Australia and the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park will play host to Round 3 of the Victorian Motor Racing Championship (VMRC) this weekend, June 6-7.

Yes, for the second straight year the Australian Auto-Sport sanctioned series will venture over the border into South Australia and takes with it some massive categories, both literally and metaphorically.

The Australian Super Truck Championship is the headline act with no less than six races over the course of the weekend.

While the other categories will be using the full 4.95km International layout, the big rigs will run on the shorter West Circuit of the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park.

“It is the first time we’ve ever been to the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, and we are really looking forward to it,” said Australian Super Truck Championship President Bobby Dale.

“It’s really cool that we are going to The Bend, it's been a couple of years in the process with a few hurdles along the way. But hats off to Adam Brook at the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, he hasn't let up either. It's really his doing to be honest, there has been some work involved.

“It’s one of the widest tracks in the country; I expect we’ll see them running two or even three wide especially on the first lap. The Bend will be awesome.”

There is huge variety of categories on show, including another Australian Series. While the Australian Super Trucks are the biggest national category, the Superkarts are one of, if not the smallest.

The Superkarts will have four races as part of Round 2 of the Australian Triple Challenge, this event is titled the Australian Super Kart Grand Prix.

The big banging Vic V8s will turn heads, the category contains old-school Aussie Muscle, the General versus the Blue Oval.

A true classic Aussie category, the Holden HQs boasts a huge field at The Bend, it will be action-packed all weekend long with four races.

Additionally, there will be the all-encompassing Victorian Tin Tops category and Hyundai Excels.

There will also be some non-racing trucks on display at the venue for enthusiasts of a big rig.

If this is not enough, after the racing on track has finished on track, over on The Bend Dragway on Saturday evening there will be the diesel drags.

This is your chance to test your very own diesel-powered vehicle in a safe and controlled environment. Bring your mates and see what your machine can do down the strip.

There will be a fireworks display on Saturday night to conclude proceedings.
