The 2026 Bathurst 1000 provided plenty of memorable moments for Jeff Grech, with a weekend that combined a look back at an important piece of Australian motorsport history with some new experiences around Mount Panorama.
One of the highlights was when Jeff Grech was given the opportunity to experience Mount Panorama from the passenger seat of a brand-new Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, with none other than Craig Lowndes behind the wheel.
The one lap hot lap gave Jeff Grech the chance to experience the Corvette's abilities on one of Australia's most famous circuits, although the capabilities of the car weren't the only thing being tested. According to Jeff Grech, the lap also gave his underwear a fairly thorough test!
The experience produced some fantastic images of Jeff Grech and Craig Lowndes aboard the Corvette, adding a much lighter moment to a weekend filled with Bathurst memories.
Celebrating 30 Years Since 1996
There was also plenty of history to celebrate throughout the weekend, with 2026 marking the 30th anniversary of the Holden Racing Team's famous 1996 Bathurst victory.
Jeff Grech joined Greg Murphy and other members of the 1996 Holden Racing Team for a special reunion commemorating the anniversary, with the celebrations also featuring the iconic #1 Holden Commodore.
It was a chance for members of the team to reunite three decades on from one of the significant chapters in HRT's Bathurst history. The weekend also saw Jeff Grech join Greg Murphy on the Fox Sports broadcast to look back on the 1996 campaign and share some of the stories behind the team.
Another familiar piece of machinery was the orange #84 car, which Jeff Grech also had an involvement with during his motorsport career, adding another connection between his past and the cars on show at Mount Panorama.
Winton On Show at Mount Panorama
There was a present-day Winton connection to the weekend as well.
The Thompson Motor Group, AC Delco and Winton Motor Raceway Chevrolet Silverado took part in the Bathurst Drivers Parade, carrying Supercheap Auto Racing drivers Craig Lowndes and Bailey Hall around Mount Panorama.
The Silverado forms part of Winton Motor Raceway's partnership with Thompson Motor Group, GMSV and AC Delco, which has also seen the partners' branding feature prominently around Winton Motor Raceway.
With Jeff Grech's ties to some of Bathurst's most memorable moments, a reunion three decades in the making, Winton represented in the Drivers Parade and a very quick lap alongside Craig Lowndes, the 2026 Bathurst 1000 certainly provided plenty of reasons to remember the trip to the Mountain.
