Winton Super Sprints Concludes
The final round of the 2025 Winton Super Sprints has concluded in style with numbers flocking to the ‘Nation’s Action Track.’
On Sunday November 16, no less than 60 drivers descended on Winton Motor Raceway, completing against the clock in a huge variety of vehicles from open wheelers to racing cars and road cars.
The fastest time across all eight categories was set by Jordan James, a 1m 29.7550s lap in his Subaru WRX Sti, competing in the Racing Cars Over 2 Litre class.
James took out the category in dominant fashion, winning by over 4s. Richard Renato and Nigel Armstrong were split by just 0.16s in the fight for p2, Renato in his Mazda MX5 just pipped the VX Holden driver.
Racing Cars up to 2 Litres was the biggest category at the final round with 14 cars entered to compete, containing Honda Civics, Datsuns, Hyundai Excels and Nissan Pulsars, however it was Toyota 86s that dominated the category.
The day ended with a Toyota 86 1-2, with Dan Fewster winning the class by 0.8s from Adam Shchuurman. Gary Dowling was just 0.1s further back driving a Civic.
Open Wheel/Clubman went the way of Chris O’Connor driving a Royal Formula Ford, Legend Cars steerer Ian Tavare ended up second, with Victorian Formula Vee driver Mallacai Windsor third.

High Performance up to 2 Litre was won by Felice Di Tirro, a 1m 45.634s time was enough to secure the top spot by 2.3s. The Hyundai Excel with Teddy Maher at the wheel finished the day in second ahead of Gavin Nolan in a Pulsar.
High Performance over 2 Litre was the closest contest of the day, just 0.079s separated the top two competitors.
After a day long fight, Stephen Carron at the wheel of his Subaru WRX Sti took the honours, but Thanh Tran driving his BMW M3 Touring did not go down without a fight. He threw everything at Carron late on, but he couldn’t quite string the lap together to beat Carron. Dean Kennedy in a Porsche 718 Boxster rounded out the podium.
Toyota Celica driver Josh Nichols was dominant in the packed Road Registered up to 2 Litre category. He won the class by 3.74s ahead of MX5 competitor John Tyack and Mark Dawe in a Proton Satria.
Road Registered Over 2 Litre saw Richard Gay in a nimble Mitsubishi Mirage prevail against stiff competition in Holden Commodores and Ford Falcons. Gay beat Commodore driver Clinton Gazelle by 1.2s and Falcon steerer Jason McCance by 2.9s.
As always there were some youngsters learning their craft competing in the junior category. Jake Riddiford concluded the day at the top of the leaderboard saving his best lap until last. Lily Hendrick finished second and Liam Brown third.
