Winton Twilight Cruises are underway

The maiden Winton Twilight Cruise occurred at Winton Motor Raceway last week and proved to be an incredible success.

A great array of vehicles descended on the ‘Nation’s Action Track’ Winton Motor Raceway located just two hours North of Melbourne on Thursday the 22nd of January.

The inaugural twilight cruise saw a total of 40 cars attend and 50 passengers.

The creation of the Winton Twilight Cruise to bring a cars and coffee style event to the track, the atmosphere was buzzing with a relaxed atmosphere and family friendly evening.

From 5pm-8pm it is all about great vibes, cars, friends, family and of course cruising around the 3.0km Winton Motor Raceway.

The Winton Café was open, making meals throughout the evening, allowing families a great opportunity to unwind in the likely evening conditions.

Don’t worry, if you didn’t make it and fear you missed out, there will be plenty more opportunities throughout the year.

There are another five Winton Twilight Cruise dates throughout the year. February 19, March 19, October 14, November 12 and a TBC date in December.

All of them start at 5pm and run until 8pm, gates open at 5pm allowing competitors to sign on until 6pm. The Drivers’ Briefing takes place at 5.45pm. On track activities take place from 6-8pm.

All Winton Twilight Cruises are run as a reduced speed event, which runs at a maximum speed of 120kp/h.

The event entry fee boasts unbelievable value for money, $40 per car and an additional $5 for each passenger, with kids under 10 and under free. Kids under 7 must be secured in a baby seat.

All drivers must bring to the track minimum attire of a t-shirt and shorts, as well as enclosed shoes. Valid photo identification must also be presented at sign on.

The vehicle in the cruise must be a road registered vehicle with visible registration plates and must arrive under its own steam not on the back of a trailer.

At the Twilight Cruise, there is strictly no racing. Overtaking is only allowed on the straights, not in corners. Car-to-car contact is strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate dismissal from the event, as will any deliberate tyre smoke, drifting or roll racing.

If any vehicle gets stuck in the gravel the session will be red flagged and cars will return to the lane.
